Family Vet Hospital of Stone Ridge

6. Family Vet Hospital of Stone Ridge

24650 South Point Dr, Chantilly, VA 20152

We enjoy being able to enrich and lengthen the lives of our beloved pets, who have become our adopted children, with modern medicine and technology. Our focus includes betterment of the quality of life of our pets...

Automatic lift tables for senior pets
Pain management
Rehabilitation
Underwater treadmill
Use of proven alternative therapies when practical
Ultrasound
Complete anasthesia monitoring (including mechanical ventilator)
Heated surgery table
Heated iv lines
Endoscopy
In-house lab (we also send more complicated tests to specialists with 1-2 day results)
Some conditions and emergencies require immediate answers. We have a variety of sophisticated lab machines that we can use. We have the latest complete blood cell count analyzer utilizing laser technology for improved accuracy. This can tell us information about the number and types of cells in the blood. Many conditions alter these from normal.

Tests for: electrolytes, blood-gas, thyroid, coagulation profile
We can also do a variety of “chemistry” panels that can tell us if some of the major organs in the body are affected by a condition

Digital radiographs (x-ray)
We use state-of-the-art digital radiology in the hospital. These images can be enlarged, highlighted, and enhanced using our software. This increases the diagnostic yield many fold and can help us see things we could not see before with standard radiology.
In addition to viewing the images we can burn them to a cd or we can transmit them to specialist radiologist for consultation and recommendation.
You can even access your pet’s x-rays on-line from your own computer 24/7

We've received many client testimonials over the years, here are some of our favorite:
Homeless animals rescue team: "everyone of our volunteers who works with you loves you!"

Dr. Chau, just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for all of your kindness, understanding, vast knowledge and genuine care and concern you have shown towards me and all of my "girls." these dogs mean the world to me, and when you advise me on how to treat them, i have full confidence in you, and know you have our best interest at heart. Thanks again ever so much for everything!

For a wonderful vet: thanks for all the tlc and kindness that you've shown, you care for other people's pets as if they were your own.

Dr. Chau, we just wanted to thank you for the sensitive, caring way you handled the end of our cat's life. You've always been a compassionate, gentle doctor, and we hope you know how much we appreciate your kindness. The verses of this card sum up our gratitude for your kindness and understanding while treating our cat midnight. Its so nice to have a vet who cares so much. Its been rough not having him with us, but knowing that in time, there will be another who will need us as much as midnight did gives us something t look forward to.

I am very thankful for dr. Chau for helping me out on a sunday, so that my little bird didn’t have to suffer anymore. The bird took well to dr. Chau, which she never seem to do with others. God bless you. I may use you in the future? If i get another bird. Thanks.

You are one of the most loving and caring people i know, and all of the animals you will be treating are the luckiest animals in town! I (personally) wish your practice was closer to me, or me closer to you as i would then know my animals had the best care available!

Dr. Chau, i just wanted to write and thank you for all that you did for chelsea. As you know, we had been to other vets and specialists prior to seeing you. Every place we went we were told to give her medications, see how she feels in a couple of days and so on. We, knowing the real chelsea, knew there was something very wrong. When we finally came to you, after one to two months of watching chelsea deteriorate, you figured out what was wrong and took care of it in three days. Not that money matters when it came to chelsea, you did what was necessary and best for chelsea, not what was best for your practice. I can’t express to you enough the feelings of gratitude we have for you to end chelsea’s suffering. You have an incredible knack for balancing the way to handle this terrible matter. You were straight forward, yet extremely caring. Chelsea was definitely loved and will be missed greatly. We will cherish the 6 years of memories we had with her. Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

We are thankful for you hanh, your kind, compassionate spirit has been a true blessing to our practice.

Dr. Chau: you would be thrilled to see willy as he "trots" off for his morning walk! We notice he is more restful, pants less, and is really like his old self. The swelling seems to be gone in the leg as well. We tested his back legs as you did by turning his paw under and he immediately responded and corrected his stance. We tell all our pet owner friends about this amazing turnaround and will look forward to continuing the therapy. The new home cookin' menu has also improved his stool, and both dogs seem to have a new reason to live! Thanks for your good holistic approach to improving the quality of life for our "boys"!

Dr. Chau: amazing change in willy! He left your office and when we opened the back end of the car, he jumped in! He has had a great improvement in his ability to walk steady and this morning, instead of just going outside for a quick relief as in the past few days, he led us on his usual path for a walk. He is loving his food (eggs, chicken, rice made with home made chicken stock and veggies), and he seems less stressed (more at rest without panting so much). I can't thank you enough for the acupuncture session and your personal interest in his case. I have heard that people benefit from acupuncture, but i admit to being a skeptic until now! What do you suggest for future sessions, and of course, we would want to pay you for them. Please let me know that you have received this email as i am not sure of your address. Your fan…

Dr. Chau, you might think that what you did was a little thing because you do so much for others all the time, but it is rare to find people as considerate and thoughtful as you. Thank you so very much for taking care of taz the way you did. He healed nicely and is back to his own self. It meant so much to me what you did-no words can express my gratitude...

Dear dr. Chau, thank you for taking such good care of henry and for your support during a very difficult time for us...

Thanks so much for pulling spice through a serious ailment. He finished all the medicatoin and seems to have bounced back to his normal self. We'll continue to keep an eye on him, but for now he is a healthy, happy fellow! Thanks again...

Dr. Chau and staff, puffy wanted me to send you a note to thank you for taking care of her and her health checkups. You were very good to her when she visited you. Now, she is resting in peace and happy in a nice aradise with tons of pets to play with. I missed her terribly! Thank you for everything! Fondly memories...

Dr. Chau, thank you for everything you did, and your effort and kindness you showed to owl and wade that helped us to enjoy him for much longer than we would have. We really miss him. He was a great pet. Thank you so much, we love you, ...

Dear dr. F..., you came thru again. Max was very sick and i had just came home from the hospital after major surgery. My wife g_ showed me max's ear and knew something had to be done pretty fast.

We decided to take him, i was unable to help her she took max in and dr. Chau took him right away and told my wife she would operate and that he would have to stay all night. Dr. Chau was so kind like it was her dog and the technicians especially the young man who my wife was very impressed with.

Dr. Chau called later that night to let us know how he was, and that we could pick up between 10 & 12 noon. She had told my wife he would need a bath with special soap after he got home.

Someone was kind to give him a bath and they knew i had just came home from the hospital.

I look at him laying on the living room floor he is the most beautiful dog in the whole world.

Thanks again to dr. Chau and to your office staff and technicians...

Dr. Chau, i don't know if you remember me, but i job shadowed you on november 9. I wanted to thank you for taking time out of your schedule to help me with this project. I really appreciated it. I feel that i learned a lot from watching you work. It helped me to realize that if i do become a veterinarian, i would want to focus on surgery. That, to me, was the most interesting part of my visit... Once again, thank you very much... Student at magruder high school

Dr. Chau and staff, thank you very much for allowing me to job shadow you. It was a very interesting and exciting experience. I enjoyed it very much and i'm so glad you took the time to show me how great it is, to be a veterinarian, [student at magruder high school]

Dear dr. Chau, thank you for giving me the opportunity of job shadowing you. It was a great experience for me and i enjoyed it very much. Hopefully, i'll get an a.

Dear dr. Chau, i am writing to thank you for conducting such an interesting, informative, and fun tour for our group, the montgomery home learning network. Children and adults alike enjoyed themselves and learned a lot too!

We appreciate that you took the time our of your busy practice to prepare everything so nicely and spend time answering all the questions too. I'm sure you inspired a few young "vets-in-training" in our group too! Keep up the good work!

Dear dr. Chau, we really enjoyed the tour. My favorite part was your lizard and your cat. We liked your cat's heart-beat. Love... [added by parent: we were there in april with a homeschool group.]

Merry xmas, we want to thank you for caring and taking care of us thru out the year, we love you.

Dear dr. Chau, thank yo uso much for taking care of my guinea pig, hans, when he was so sick. It really meant a lot to me. Your work is appreciated. Hope your summer is great.

Dear dr. Chau, d_ and i want to thank you for your patients and kindness while helping tori during his illness. His last 9 months were happy because of your help. Thanks again. Enjoy,

Dear dr. Chau and ..., thank you so much for the lovely rose arrangement. Your thoughtfullness is greatly and sincerely appreciated. Life hasn't been the same without my kitty, suzie, but life has to go on. I can't thank all of you enough for the warmth and caring you have shown me during this difficult time. In addition, i am so content to know that suzie received the best of care from all of you. You're more than veterinarians and associated staff - you're a wonderful bunch of caring human beings. Appreciatively...

Dear dr. Chau, pepper was in to have her blood work done and it just wasn't the same without you! Pepper was not happy about seeing dr. F and i think he could tell it. You were so good with her and so nice to us. When we found out you had left the office we felt like we had lost a member of our family!

Thank you for all of your kindness and expert knowledge. We wish you the best in your new practice but hope you get tired of it there and come back home. Thanks again for everything!

Hanh, i'll never be able to thank you for all you've done for us. You helped make the transition in our lives more bearable. Thank you. With love...

[letter written in first person from pet's perspective. Golden retriever after surgery for cancer] dear dr. Chau, i don't know if you remember me. You took away a sick spot on my shoulder last year. It got all healed and i improved so much that i got to have some little babies. I had 6 little babies (3 boy babies and 3 girl babies. They came to me on january 7th. They're so pretty. My human mom and dad agree. We all wanted you to know about my little family. We thank you so much you're a real good doctor...

Dr. Hanh chau, thank you very much for taking such good care of my dear friend ashleng. She means a world to all of us. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and caring to let me know how she is doing. You are truly a professional. You truly set a good example to all doctors. It will be a merry christmas now that she will be home. Merry christmas.

Dr. Chau, we just wanted to thank you again for all that you've done for us. We feel like we are losing not only a wonderful vet, but a friend as well. Tally Oaks Veterinary Service

10. Tally Oaks Veterinary Service

19302 Silcott Springs Road, Purcellville, VA 20132

Tally Oaks Veterinary Service is a full-service ambulatory equine practice and small animal practice located on 22 acres in Purcellville, Virginia. If you think you live too far away from Purcellville, check the map again! You may enjoy the drive into the heart of Virginia horse country. You can visit us for your pets and then visit some of our fabulous restaurants, vineyards, the town of Middleburg, the Shenandoah Mountains, etc. You can even leave your pets here for the day while you explore for a small boarding fee.

Since 2001 Dr. Woerner has been serving animal owners in Northern Virginia, including Loudoun, Fauquier and Clarke Counties.

Dr. Woerner believes in an all-encompassing, holistic approach to animal care that includes education, prevention, conventional therapy, laser therapy, essential oils and acupuncture. Establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients is our number one priority.

Our small animal services are affordable - Call us to find out more

We offer these services in a small, quiet farm-like setting with affordable prices and hassle-free drop off and pick up. At this facility we can now offer more advanced medical services as well as surgical procedures. Our services include wellness exams, treatment of medical conditions (infections, injuries, allergies, wounds, etc.) microchipping, tick-borne disease testing, heartworm testing, fecal analysis and deworming. Our surgical services include advanced wound repair, hernia repairs, spays, neuters and mass biopsies/removals.

Our surgery suite features state of the art anesthesia equipment and advanced monitoring during anesthesia. We also have a top of the line dental unit with a piezo-electric dental scaler, ideal for removing tartar in a safe, efficient manner. We offer affordable (starting at $350) dental cleaning, polishing and fluoride treatment as well as dental extractions (extra fee) when needed along with dental care counseling and dental care products.

We offer microchipping for all animals using the AVID microchip system. Did you know that every two seconds a pet is lost! The system works by simply injecting a tiny microchip just under the skin. If you pet is lost and turned into an animal shelter or animal control officer, they scan the pet for the unique ID number and then call a 24-hour hotline to identify the owner. We charge $64 to implant the chip and then you pay a one- time fee of $19.95 to register your pet, enrolling your pet for your pet’s lifetime. Call us to schedule this life-saving procedure.

We have state of the art digital x-ray imaging equipment and digital ultrasound for small animals and horses. Our facility has a round pen and a large ring to facilitate lameness diagnosis in horses. In addition to our routine procedures such as joint injections, we now offer mesotherapy for our equine patients with neck and back pain. Laser and essential oils are also great ways to treat sore backs and other unexplained lameness.

We also provide medical and surgical services for alpacas.

Acupuncture is part of one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world - Traditional Chinese Medicine. It was developed in China over 4000 years ago and is still one of most commonly used medical systems in the world.

What conditions in Dogs Benefit from Acupuncture?

A huge variety of conditions in dogs benefit from acupuncture. Most common musculoskeletal, respiratory, neurological, urogenital, dermatologic and cardiovascular conditions can benefit, and also some behavioral conditions.

What Conditions in Horses Benefit from Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is increasingly used for performance horses, both to treat clinical conditions and maximize sub-optimal performance in the absence of clinical disease. Dr. Woerner has seen amazing results in horses with sore backs. A major benefit of the use of acupuncture in competition horses is that no drugs are used. If a horse is treated with drugs, it can be banned from competitions.

Electrical stimulation is used in both dogs and horses to reduce pain, increase local circulation, and promote healing. Electrodes applied to the skin deliver low-voltage, intermittent stimulation to surface nerves in the skin. The transmission of pain signals is blocked, and endorphins, the body's natural pain killers, are released. This type of stimulation is non-invasive and non-addictive. It has no side effects and can be used to treat acute or chronic pain. Medical research shows that turning off the pain signal allows the body to heal. Dr. Woerner has used this therapy restore a dogs ability to walk when there was no hope for recovery.

Dr. Woerner trained at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and can provide acupuncture for your horse, dog, cat or alpaca. We now use our new therapeutic laser to stimulate the acupuncture points for those pets that just don't like needles.

We look forward to working with you in the future! Please check out our website search for Tally Oaks Vet for more information on what my practice offers.

Tania D. Woerner, VMD

We Also offer Laser Therapy
The beneficial effects of laser light on tissue were first recognized almost forty years ago. Since then, there have been thousands of studies documenting the positive effects laser light has on different types of cells, tissue, and disorders. Recent advances in technology and manufacturing have made it possible to have this exciting modality available and affordable for clinicians.
Treatment protocols are unique to each patient and condition. Therefore, treatments will vary in time, complexity and cost. For some chronic patients, multiple joints will be treated during one laser treatment session. When appropriate, laser therapy can be used as a complementary adjunct to other treatment plans.
If your pet is feeling pain, has inflammation, or a wound, the laser is a sterile, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment. The laser is used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatological problems, and pain. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, the laser has been shown to provide relief and speed healing.
The laser light is delivered through a non-invasive handpiece to treat the affected area. Your pet will feel a gentle and soothing warmth. As the laser is administered, many pets will relax, much like you would experiencing a good massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate.
The Companion therapy laser system sends photons, or packets of light energy, deep into tissue without damaging it. These photons are absorbed within the mitochondria of the cells and induce a chemical change called “photo-bio-modulation”. This light energy then inspires production of A T P in the cell. A T P is the fuel, or energy, cells need for repair and rejuvenation. Impaired or injured cells do not make this fuel at an optimal rate. Increased A T P production leads to healthier cells, healthier tissue, and healthier animals.
There are no known side effects with this treatment.
You might see a change in activity when your pet comes home. For some it might be increased activity and others may be more relaxed. This is due to the pain relief and reduction in inflammation.
There are no specific things you need to do at home, other than follow normal restrictions, dietary needs, and additional treatment protocols as you pet’s condition dictates and is outlined by your veterinarian.

Simply put, it provides relief. The fur does not need to be clipped. Eye protection will be worn by the laser operator and anyone in a close proximity to the laser probe. The eyes of the animal will be directed away from the treatment area or covered with a towel or eye wear. The clinician will move the probe over the area of treatment to assure the laser is being delivered to the area which needs improvement.
As the laser is administered, often pets will relax and enjoy, much like you would experiencing a good massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate. Occasionally, angry cats will start to purr and dogs will fall asleep during their therapy session.
Just follow normal treatment protocols as outlined. You do not need to be overly cautious nor should you overdo any activities. Just business as usual.
You may see relief in the first treatment or so as pain and inflammation are reduced. For example: better mobility for joint conditions, drying and healing of dermatological issues, faster healing for wounds and incisions, or your pet just seeming more relaxed and comfortable . For some conditions, a series of treatments may be necessary before you see results due to the severity or complexity of the condition. Each pet is different, and treatments are unique for your pet’s specific needs
Prices:
10 Treatment Package: $400
Single Treatment Price $50/Session
All therapy is performed by either Dr. Woerner or by a licensed veterinary laser technician under the direct supervision of Dr. Woerner.
