Please visit our Boarding and Grooming Center located right next door for your convenience. We offer indoor climate controlled runs and suites for your canine companions during their stay. We haven't forgotten about the kitties, they can make themselves at home in our cat condos while you are away.

Dr. Scott Vaughan joined the practice in 1991 immediately following his graduation from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. He was made the Medical Director in 2002. In April 2005, Dr. Vaughan attained specialty certification in canine and feline practice from
the highly esteemed American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. In addition to small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery, Dr. Vaughan is a seasoned sonographer and is currently pursuing advanced training in rigid endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques. He spends the majority of his free time serving his church and enjoying his family. Dr. Vaughan and his wife, Gina, have two teenage sons, Dustin and Dillon, and a Labrador retriever name Kenzy.

In June 2006, Dr. Briana Travis joined our dedicated medical team. In 2001, Dr. Travis received a bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University in Animal Science. She has worked at Oso Creek Animal Hospital since she was seventeen, as well as volunteering at Padre Island national Seashore. She is pursuing a special interest in wound management and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Carie Allred has been with VCA Oso Creek since August 2002. She came to VCA Oso Creek after serving in the US Army for 5 years through the Health Profession Scholarship Program. Having been an Army dependant, active duty Army and now a Navy wife, she is sensitive to the needs of our military community and their pets. Dr. Allred is actively pursuing a Fellowship with the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. She performs 90% of all dental cleanings in our practice and also performs jaw fracture repair, surgical extractions, endodontics & restorative dentistry. Dr. Allred has revolutionized dental cleanings at VCA Oso Creek by providing extensive charting, dental radiographs, providing before & after dental photos to our clients and performing fluoride and Oravet treatments on each case. Dr. Allred is also the primary doctor for our local no-kill cat shelter The Cattery. Dr. Allred and her husband, Duncan, have 2 Japanese Chins and 3 cats.

Dr. Pam Prewitt moved to VCA Oso Creek in June 2008. Dr. Prewitt has been practicing for 18 years right here in Corpus Christi. She and her husband Dr. Marvin Prewitt owned Prewitt Animal Hospital, a local well respected practice in our veterinary community, until Dr. Marvin’s retirement in March 2008. Dr. Prewitt brings with her much respect among her peers within our clinic and community.

Dr. Maloney moved to Corpus Christi in 2008 after living most of her life in Indiana. She is a 2003 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, but especially enjoys behavior medicine, dentistry, and wellness care oriented towards early disease detection and prevention. She is a strong advocate for using positive reinforcement training for routine training of all species as well as for treatment of behavior problems in pets that need behavior modification.
When out of the office, Dr. Maloney loves spending time with her family and pets at home (four dogs and one cat). She also likes getting her boots dirty out at the barn taking care of her horse, Salsa.

Dr. Sherwood completed his surgical residency and began working at VCA Oso Creek in August 2014.
Dr. Sherwood completed a bachelor's degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and went on to receive his DVM from Kansas State University (1999), graduating with honors on both occasions. Following graduation from veterinary school, he completed a one-year internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. After his internship, he worked in general practice in Tomball, Texas enjoying a nearly 11-year career. Dr. Sherwood then went on to complete a 3 year surgical residency at the Kansas State University Veterinary Health Center with completion of this dual program in 2014. During his residency he completed a Master of Science degree with a clinical prospective study evaluating dextrose prolotherapy for treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs. During this time he also completed a multi-institutional retrospective study evaluating the occurrence of splenic malignancy in dogs based on body weight, gave numerous lectures to faculty and fellow house-officers, co-authored other publications, participated in intern training and served as a clinical and classroom instructor lecturing to veterinary students.
Dr. Sherwood’s professional affiliations include membership in the Society for Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery, Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology, Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society. Dr. Sherwood particularly enjoys the challenges of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine in canine athletes. In particular, Dr. Sherwood has a special interest in both internal and external fixation of fractures, cranial cruciate ligament disease, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, neurosurgery and minimally invasive orthopedics.
When not working, Dr. Sherwood enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children as well as attending church, running, cycling, fly-fishing and duck hunting.
