Lauren Carlson
Lauren Carlson

Dr. Lauren Carlson is the newest member of the VCA Delmarva Veterinary team. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama (War Eagle!). She just recently completed a rotating small animal internship in at a 25 doctor hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The main focuses of the internship were Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Carlson grew up on Long Island, New York, but would frequently visit her family in the Berlin area. She had wanted to become an "animal doctor" since she was six years old and never let that dream slip away.
Her main interests within the veterinary field are Internal Medicine, Ultrasonography, and Oncology with a heavy emphasis on preventative medicine.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two cats, Curie and Gus Gus, and hiking with her dog, Sonic. After 5 years of travelling, she also enjoys spending time with her family.
"Veterinary medicine is very much a calling: no one enters this profession for the money or the prestige. They enter this profession to make a difference in animals' lives, but also the lives of the human caretakers of those animals (which is equally as important). I wanted a job that would be challenging: intellectually, physically, and emotionally. This profession allows me to be your pets advocate, their second voice. It allows me to use my love of medicine in a way that will not only deepen the human-animal bond, but allow the life you have with your pets to be longer and healthier. I feel so privileged to be working in the profession I love, working alongside wonderful colleagues, doctors, and technicians along the way. Being a veterinarian is a continual learning process and that is the gift that my patients give to me."
