VCA Bradshaw Animal Hospital is a 24-hour General and Emergency Care veterinary facility located in Elk Grove and serving the nearby communities, such as Sacramento, Galt and Lodi. We are here to serve you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for regular appointments and emergency services.. Established in 1977, VCA Bradshaw Animal Hospital has evolved into a full service state-of-the-art facility with 22 small animal doctors, and a friendly knowledgeable support staff available to serve all of your pets needs, including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, dentistry and chiropractic services.

Kyle Quan
Kyle Quan

Dr. Quan received his DVM degree from UC Davis. He joined VCA in 2017. What he enjoys the most is interacting with the furry friends that bring joy to our lives as well as working through the challenges that come through veterinary medicine. Kyle grew up in the East Bay area but has been living in the Davis/Sacramento area for the last 10 years. He has five pets in his family, two dogs, Sadie and Doc, two cats, Iron Man and Miss Potts and a chinchilla named Scrat. Dr. Quan's professional interests are in emergency medicine and internal medicine.

Katey Wahlen
Katey Wahlen

Dr. Wahlen joined the VCA team in 2017. She got her Bachelors degree in Biology from New Mexico State University, attended Ross University for veterinary school, and finished her clinical year at the University of Minnesota. She also completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver. Dr. Wahlen felt drawn to emergency medicine because it allows for a huge case load. "I see something different everyday. It is my personal lifelong mission to be the veterinarian you want in your corner in the most dire moments when your pet is sick." She also has special interests in emergency surgery, autoimmune diseases, toxicology, and feline friendly practices.
Dr. Wahlen volunteers her expertise, too. She helped sent up a wildlife clinic and Spay and Neuter clinic in conjunction with the Peace Corps in Belize, as well as a vaccination/deworming clinic in South Africa.
In her free time, Dr. Wahlen runs marathons, paints, reads, and is constantly on the hunt for the world's best latte.
She has two beloved dogs of her own: a Siberian Husky names Suki and a German Shepard named Neeko.

Michael Saksen - Medical Director
Michael Saksen - Medical Director

Dr. Mike Saksen is an East Coast transplant enjoying life in California. He is a 2010 graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Saksen spent a year training in an internship at Louisiana State University. During his internship, Dr. Saksen participated in advanced training in many specialties including Internal Medicine, Surgery and Neurology. He also took an active role in teaching veterinary students in the hospital and the classroom. Teaching continues to be one of his passions. Dr. Saksen then moved back to Northern California and worked as an emergency clinician and hospital administrator. Aside from Emergency Medicine, Dr. Saksen has a strong interest in Neurology, Radiology, and Exotics. Mike has been a life-long hockey player, and more recently has taken up golf. Mike lives in Davis with his wife Jessica, who is also a veterinarian. They have a Siamese-mix cat named Meatloaf, a Burmese Python named Apollo, and a Catahoula mix named Lyra.

Aileen Paech

Dr. Aileen Paech received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis following a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She has been an associate veterinarian at Bradshaw Veterinary Clinic since 2001. Dr. Paech enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian, but has a special interest in geriatric medicine. She is married with 2 young children, two cats and two cockatiels. She enjoys hiking, gardening, photography and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Alan Schule received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis in 2001. Dr. Schule enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. In addition to his wife, Jenna (also a veterinarian), his family consists of two sons and a household of cats and dogs. His outside interests include: skiing, sports spectating (go Dolphins!), watching movies, eating sushi and spending time with friends and family.

Anne Gray graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After a year-long internship with the Sacramento Animal Medical Group she joined Bradshaw Veterinary Clinic. Her special interests include internal medicine, ultrasound and neurology. When not at work, she enjoys gardening, reading and hiking with her husband and dog. For the last 15 years she has studied latin and ballroom dancing, and enjoys competing, performing and occasionally teaching dance.

Dr. Cami Zatkin grew up in Southern California. She went to the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and returned to California to study veterinary medicine at UC Davis. After veterinary school Cami did an internship at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group before joining the staff at Bradshaw Veterinary Clinic in 1997. While she enjoys all aspects of small animal general practice, Cami’s professional interests lie in ultrasound, endoscopy, surgery, oncology, dermatology and internal medicine. When not caring for your animals, Cami can be found either roaming the aisles of Home Depot looking for supplies for the current home remodeling project, romping with her dogs and cat, or bicycling, skiing and hiking.

Dr. Petrunich was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He received his Bachelor’s degree from University of California Los Angeles in 1992. He then graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and completed a small animal internship at the Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles the following year. His wife, Olivia, also practices veterinary medicine in Sacramento. David enjoys snow boarding, watching football and his favorite Beatle is Paul!

Dr. Diane Schroeder was born and raised in the Metropolitan D.C. area. She received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1985 after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the same university. Dr. Schroeder’s interests include internal medicine and cruciate (knee) surgery. She is married to Eric and has three teenage sons all active in sports, two dogs and one cat. Many cats, over the years were rescued and adopted from Bradshaw Veterinary Clinic. She enjoys gardening, traveling, reading, watching sports (especially her son's teams), and quiet time if she can find it!

She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine, Surgery, and Oncology at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists after veterinary school. Her special interests are Internal Medicine, Emergency/Critical Care, and Preventive Care. She has two wonderful cats at home, Roy and Chloe, and enjoys traveling, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Kwok was married in August of 2005 and now lives with her husband, a small herd of cats, a 3-legged Rottweiler, a cockatiel and a canary. She welcomed a baby girl in November 2009. Her special veterinary interests include all exotics, dermatology, primarily birds, as well as dog and cat internal medicine.

She came to Bradshaw in August 2000 after completing an internship at South Shore Animal Hospital in Massachusetts and working in Connecticut. She has special interests in feline medicine, dentistry and diabetes mellitus. Dr. Pate lives in a household of special needs pets that include three cats and two dogs.
