Our veterinary practice has undergone changes and improvements throughout the years in keeping with the many ongoing advancements in veterinary medicine. We focus on providing the highest quality medical and surgical services for your companion animals. Springfield Animal Hospital is a long-standing AAHA
What does it mean to be AAHA accredited?
American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) AccreditedVeterinary hospitals are not required to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA); it is optional.
"Veterinary hospitals are evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence in order to become accredited. AAHA-accredited hospitals are recognized among the finest in the industry, and are consistently at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine. Our Standards of Accreditation are continuously reviewed and updated to keep our accredited practices on the cutting edge of veterinary excellence. Our standards address patient care and pain management, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, medical records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education. To maintain accredited status, hospitals undergo comprehensive on-site evaluations every three years."

Dr. Grace Oldfield grew up in Columbia, Maryland and currently lives in Northern Virginia. She received a BS degree from the University of Delaware and a DVM degree from North Carolina State University.
Dr. Oldfield wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She grew up around dogs and horses, and began working with dairy cows and poultry in college. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, she has worked as a veterinary assistant for Vet Pets practices in the Raleigh-Durham area, a surgery assistant at the NC State Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and a calf manager and milker at the UD Dairy.
Dr. Oldfield's special interests include integrative medicine, acupuncture, internal medicine, and behavior. She is a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, having received her certification from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida in May 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, baking, and hiking with her black lab, Peanut.
Carla joined Springfield Animal Hospital in 2001. She worked in client service for the first 12 years of her career with us, becoming the Reception Manager in 2005 and graduating to Hospital Manager in 2013. She is pursuing a Human Resources Management degree. She is an active member of the Veterinary Hospital Management Association (V.H.M.A.) with the ultimate goal of becoming a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (C.V.P.M.).
Carla embraces the opportunity to learn and grow each and every day in a field that she truly adores. She loves every patient that visits the hospital, but the staff knows not to let a puppy or kitten come and go without visiting her in the office. In her free time, Carla loves spending time with her family and three kitties, running, hiking, traveling, reading and baking to satisfy her sweet tooth.
