We have knowledgeable veterinarians and team members that are committed to providing you with outstanding customer service. We are committed to offering the best possible care for your pets. We offer both preventative medicine and treatments for advanced medical conditions.

Let us be your pet's home away from home in our boarding facility while you are vacationing. Special dietary and medicals needs can be provided during your pet's stay with us. Your canine friend will enjoy scheduled time outside in our outdoor kennel area, weather permitting, and if you are away more than four days, your dog will receive a bath so he/she is fresh and clean when going home. Our boarding facility can accommodate kitties and also exotic pets, some of which include birds, ferrets, and rabbits. Call us to make your reservation!

Dr. Curtis Ciance
Dr. Curtis Ciance

Dr. Cianci was born and raised near Philadelphia, PA. He first gained interest in veterinary medicine after attending an Explorer's program in junior high school. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Penn State University in 1981. He then worked as a research assistant in equine surgery at New Bolton Center, The University of Pennsylvania's large animal hospital. During these years he also attended graduate classes at the University of Delaware. He received his master in Animal Science. Dr. Ciance then went on to veterinary school and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

Dr. Cianci has been with VCA since 1998 and has been at Shrewsbury Animal Hospital for 9 years. Besides dogs and cats he will examine birds, reptiles, small mammals, and pet pigs. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association and the Jersey Shore Veterinary Medical Association. In his spare time he enjoys golf, running, and is active in his church.

Dr. Joy Weinstein

Dr. Weinstein was born and raised in lakewood, NJ. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She then graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. She completed a small animal surgical residency at Tufts University / Angel Memorial Animal Hospital in 1988. The residency was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Orthopedic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts University. Dr. Weinstein was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania's Veterinary Hospital from 1990-1994. She has been with the Shrewsbury Animal Hospital since 1994.

Dr. Weinstein has served as President of the Jersey Shore Veterinary Medical Association. She also served as Chairperson of the Eastern Veterinary Orthopedic Society. Her primary interests are lameness evaluation, orthopedic surgery, and surgical oncology.

Dr. Meredith Orr-Warn
Dr. Meredith Orr-Warn

Dr. Meredith Orr-Warn was born and raised in Ocean Grove, NJ. She earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Small Animal Science from Delaware Valley College in 2004. She then earned her DVM degree from Purdue University in 2009.
Special Interests: Dr. Orr-Warn is the proud mom of an English foxhound mix named Gaia, who was her laboratory dog during her second year of veterinary shcool. In addition, she adopted a cat named Velvet from the SPCA. In her spare time, Dr. Orr-Warn enjoys hiking, attending sporting events, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family. She currently resides in Shark River Hills, NJ.

Dr. Tara Checton

Tara Checton bvm&s, mrcvs of Sea Girt (formerly of Rumson) to the veterinary staff. Dr. Checton is a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, Lehigh University, and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. She joins an experienced team of veterinarians and support staff dedicated to providing pets with compassionate and loving care. Born and raised in Monmouth County, Dr. Checton will continue Shrewsbury Animal Hospital´┐Żs tradition of providing top-notch medicine with a small home-town feel.
