Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic has been family owned and operated since 1973, making it the oldest established veterinary practice in the Peter’s Township community.

Dr. Brad Carmichael
Dr. Brad Carmichael

Dr. Brad Carmichael was raised in the Peters Township community where his father, Dr. James W. Carmichael, established the oldest area veterinary practice, over 35 years ago. After graduating from Wake Forest University in 1996, Brad Carmichael graduated with the honor of phi zeta from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He has spent the last 11 years practicing medicine at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic. Aside from practicing medicine, Brad also worked as the hospital's director for many years, until he additionally became the practice owner. (Dr. Brad), as he is known at Pleasant Valley, is active in his community, and is a regularly scheduled speaker in the local schools. He also teaches practice management as a guest lecturer at the Pittsburgh Veterinary Technical Institute, and sits on the Institute's Accreditation Advisory Board. Brad has been involved in The Ohio State University Alumni Society as a presiding member of the Veterinary School Board of Trustees since 2004, was the president elect for 2007-2008, and is a former O S U School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society President. He also sits on The Ohio State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital's Advisory Board, and is the Pfizer Corporation's Media Contact for the Pittsburgh market. Brad and his wife Erin live in the Peters Township community with their young daughters, Adien and Breena, and their two dogs and two cats. He loves all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, and Ohio State Football. In his spare time, Dr. Brad enjoys cooking, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Mike Pensenstadler
Dr. Mike Pensenstadler

Dr. Mike Pensenstadler has been practicing with Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic since June of 1996. He grew up in Ambridge, Pennsylvania and graduated valedictorian from Ambridge High School. Dr. Mike currently resides in Venetia, Pennsylvania with his wife Kelly, son Matthew, three cats, two dogs, a bird, three chickens and a horse. Dr. Mike received his undergraduate degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude. He then received his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mike decided he wanted to become a Veterinarian in the 9th grade. His father was and still is a veterinarian so he was exposed to veterinarian medicine at an early age. He realized with his propensity at math and science, his love of animals and his upbringing that veterinary medicine was for him. Dr. Mike has special interests in internal medicine, emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, pain management, greyhound care, and wellness and preventative medicine. He also enjoys hiking, camping, bicycling, golf, scuba diving, reading, playing the guitar, and anything Disney. Dr. Mike only offers the best in high quality medicine and exceptional customer service.

Dr. Andrea Gordon

Dr. Gordon is a native of Wexford, PA, graduating from North Allegheny High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh and her DVM at The Ohio State University, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Andrea enjoys spending time outside and time with her nephews. Her family has 3 fluffy small dogs, Newt, Gizzy and Lorraine and also two cats, Petey and Douglas, which are larger than the dogs!

Dr. Jacob Knox

Dr. Jacob Knox was born and raised in Valencia, PA and graduated from Mars Area High School. He has known since 8th grade that he has wanted to be a veterinarian. He is passionate about the human/animal bond that he gets to cultivate every day. He earned his bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology at Grove City College in Grove City, PA. He then went on to receive his DVM from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Boston, MA. His veterinary interests include surgery, dermatology, and ultrasound. In his free time, Jacob enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Amy, and his little girl, Ellie. He also enjoys watching Pittsburgh sports and spending time outdoors, hiking, biking, and exercising with his dog, Annie, a Brittany. He is excited to be a part of the exceptional team at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Michael Wells

Dr. Wells was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, and graduated from Georgetown Preparatory High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia. He earned his DVM from St. George's University, spending 3 years in the beautiful Caribbean before completing his clinical year at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Wells enjoys spending time with his wife Sara and their many furry children including their English Springer Spaniel, Ellie; Jack Russell, BJ; Pineapple Green Cheek Conure, Nora; guinea pigs, Cyrus and Penelope; mice, Tulip, Pearl, and Daisy; rabbit, Basil, and an adorable clowder of cats (Chewy, Sandy, Karen, Mabel, Holly, James, Merlin, Clementine, Duncan, and Captain Kiwi)

Dr. Elizabeth Miller
Dr. Elizabeth Miller

Dr. Miller was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and graduated from Highlands High School. She likes to think of herself as an advocate for her patients and a resource for her clients. An avid and life-long animal lover, she enjoys fostering the human-animal bond. Dr. Miller earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Messiah College in 2012, and went on to earn her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Some of her clinical interests include preventative medicine, client education, soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging, and emergency medicine. Dr. Miller shares her home with her two kitties, Piper and Savannah. In her free time, she enjoys reading and crocheting, skiing and snowboarding in the winter, hiking and biking in the summer, and binging Netflix year round. She is very excited to have joined the Pleasant Valley team, and looks forward to serving the community she knows and loves!

Dr. Taylor Hawkins

Dr. Hawkins was born and raised in Murrysville, PA, graduated from Franklin Regional Senior High School and completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Allegheny College in 2012. She earned her DVM from Ross University on the beautiful island of St. Kitts in the West Indies before completing her clinical year at Purdue University. Her veterinary interests include surgery, ultrasound, dentistry, endoscopy and fostering the human-animal bond. In her free time, Taylor enjoys spending time outside, especially running, hiking, and walking with her dog, Lily, a miniature schnauzer. She is also enjoys reading, guitar playing, Netflix binging, and anything Harry Potter/Disney. She is very excited to have the opportunity to work with the amazing team at Pleasant Valley.

Dr. Rebecca Glatfelter
Dr. Rebecca Glatfelter

Dr. Rebecca originally hails from Dallas, Texas, but has lived the greater portion of her life in Frederick, MD. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She then spent four years in London, England attending the Royal Veterinary College, earning her veterinary degree and the slightly complicated title of MRCVS (which is just the British equivalent of a DVM). Her veterinary interests include surgery, neurology, cardiology, opthalmology, and emergency/critical care. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga and pilates, crocheting, reading, napping, planning vacations that she'll never end up going on, and binging Netflix. She has a very sweet, naughty kitten named Osiris and will be getting a German Shepherd puppy around New Years that she plans on training in Schutzhund. Dr. Rebecca is so excited to join the incredible team at PVVC and looks forward to meeting all of your amazing pets!

Dr. Joanne Jones

Dr. Joanne Jones has been at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic since June 1985. She graduated from West Virginia University in 1980 and then received her Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 1984. She practiced near Macon, Georgia for 1 year before returning to Pennsylvania. Her primary focus at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic is general medicine including vaccinations and parasite control. She currently lives on a beef farm with her husband and family in Southern Washington County. She and her husband are excitedly expecting their first grandchild in Feb. of 2019. Dr. Jones enjoys horseback riding with her two new gaited horses. Her family also has 1 dog, 1 cat, 4 horses, and over 50 beef cattle.
