Description

Maness Veterinary Services in Newcastle, Oklahoma is a full service animal hospital with advanced orthopedic surgical experience. Our primary focus is on companion animals as well as exotics including alpacas. Dr. Patti S. Maness has owned and practiced at large veterinary facilities with heavy surgery schedules over the last 25 years. She enjoys and is very experienced in advanced trauma, critical care procedures, and surgeries. Orthopedic procedures such as bone plating, external fixators, and knee (stifle) corrections including cruciate tears are routinely performed. She is AO A.S.I.F trained.

We provide referral services and second opinions for many other veterinary clinics in Oklahoma and Texas. Most of the referrals are for surgical cases. Our referral cases are treated or scheduled for surgery, then referred back to their family veterinarian for followup and routine care. Ultrasound studies, including echocardiograms, are also offered.

It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care within our clients' needs and budget. Our services and facilities are designed around our surgery suite which is equipped with advanced surgical monitors such as E.C.Gs, blood pressures, and blood oxygen levels. Warming units to support longer anesthetic procedures and x-ray capabilities within the surgical suite help create an efficient, safe enviroment for your pet's procedure. We also provide the same standard of surgical expertise toward more routine procedures such as spays and neuters.

Dr. Maness can provide local non-veterinary-referral clients with complete pet care such as routine preventive care for young, healthy pets, early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages, and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and we are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat your pet as we would our own. Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner.

Dr. Maness knew at a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She started at the age of 15 as kennel help at a veterinary clinic in Ralston, Nebraska. Dr. Maness attended Texas A& M University in College Station, Texas, where she was an active member of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets while pursuing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry. She graduated magna cum laude with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1981.

Her practice career began in Weslaco, Texas just five miles from the Mexico border where she learned to speak "Tex Mex" and work on cattle. The next career move was to San Antonio, Texas where she made her practice home for the next 16 years. Dr. Maness began as an associate and was the owner of one of the biggest clinics in San Antonio at that time with five doctors and a large support staff. This enabled her to concentrate on her love of surgery and often performed 6 to 12 procedures daily. This clinic partnered with another clinic and established the first Animal Emergency after hours hospital on the southside of San Antonio. This emergency clinic eventually merged with her day practice to become a 24 hour 7 days a week veterinary care facility.

Dr. Maness married her husband, Rudy Casias, in 1999. Her only "son", Jasper, was four legged and furry; and carried the rings in the wedding. When Kelly AFB closed, Rudy was transferred to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. They bought a home in Newcastle, Oklahoma big enough for all their pets. Dr. Maness commuted for the next few years and also worked the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas in the DFW area. This is an emergency and critical care hospital as well as sharing the facility with a surgery referral center. Rudy and Patti became certified foster parents for the State of Oklahoma and have had many children through their home. Rudy was deployed to Kuwait for 5 months, and Patti elected to practice full time in Oklahoma to help care for their burgeoning two and four legged family. Rudy is still an active duty Air Force reservist as well as full time civil servant at Tinker AFB. They are up to three adopted children now. Raising and showing alpacas, managing their horse herd and pet Longhorn cattle as well as selling farm fresh eggs keeps their family busy. Both Patti and Rudy are still very involved in the local community where Patti has been a Girl Scout Leader for several years, and Rudy is on the Newcastle Local Planning Advisory Committee and the Newcastle Education Foundation. Both Patti and Rudy participate in the Newcastle Visioning Process. Maness Veterinary Services founded and has sponsored the annual Newcastle Pumpkin Fest's Pet Costume Contest the last two years.
