Dr. Strickland, the practice owner, is a University of Georgia graduate, receiving his DVM in 1979. In 1993, he became board certified in companion animal practice and is a member of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Only 2% of small animal veterinarians are board certified. His special interests are in reproduction and surgery. His standards are high, and he has made Leesburg Veterinary Hospital into an AAHA-certified hospital of quality medical care for small animals in the area, including rabbits, ferrets and "pocket pets." Dr. Strickland has 7 children and is actively involved in 4-H, Boy Scouts and the Animal Advisory Board for Loudoun County.read more
Dr. Lauren Kloer has been a veterinary associate at Leesburg Veterinary Hospital since July 2010 and enjoys the friendly and professional atmosphere, the amazing clients and all their wonderful pets! Dr. Kloer was born in rural Nebraska and grew up on a farm and ranch in eastern Colorado. She received her bachelor of science degree in zoology from Colorado State University and then later attended CSU for her veterinary education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009.
Dr. Kloer then decided to leave her roots, and moved to the east coast. She worked at a very busy small animal and exotic pet hospital in West Virginia before deciding she wanted to be a little closer to the DC area; she was also in search of an AHAA accredited hospital. Leesburg Veterinary Hospital was the perfect fit!
Dr. Kloers interests include soft tissue surgery, behavior, exotic pet medicine, spay/neuter/shelter medicine, and internal medicine. She believes strongly in client education and strives to provide clients with information and resources about their pets health. In her spare time, Dr. Kloer enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, volleyball, playing with her cats, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Jennifer Boyle is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but moved to the Northern Virginia area in 2007. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Allegheny College in 2003. She then obtained her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished her clinical year of study at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Boyle has been working at Leesburg Veterinary Hospital since October 2010.
Dr. Boyles interests include internal medicine and surgery, with a strong emphasis on pet owner communication and education.
She currently lives in Purcellville with her husband, Kevin, and their two rescue dogs, Marley and Jake. They enjoy traveling, sporting events, and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Betsy Henly, a general practitioner with Leesburg Veterinary Hospital since January 2012, grew up with a special understanding of the human/animal bond. "Our dogs were treated so well growing up that my best friend said she wanted to come back in her next life as one of our dogs," Dr. Henly said. "I've always understood the human/animal bond." She also raised two rabbits that had "homes all over the neighborhood."
Dr. Henly grew up in Orinda, California and attended the University of Kentucky at Lexington. She earned her undergraduate degree in International Geography in 1995 and was awarded two research awards from the Geography Department. After graduation, Dr. Henly worked in the stock market in San Francisco, but realized that career was not for her. She attended Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She was awarded six scholarships.
Dr. Henly is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the Loudoun Veterinary Medical Association. She has professional interests in wellness visits (especially for senior pets), nutrition, dermatology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery.
She is the mother of two young girls, Kristin (4 years) and Haley (1 year).
Dr. Henly and her husband also share their home with Molly, an energetic toy poodle. She enjoys cooking, doing home projects with her husband, swimming, gardening, and meeting new people.
