McAbee Veterinary Hospital, established in 1962 by Dr. Harry S. McAbee, has been providing quality care for family pets in Central Florida for nearly 50 years. Following his service in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, Dr. Harry S. McAbee graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1951. Dr. Scott W. McAbee, a 1990 graduate of the same school, took over the practice in 1991.
Our 27 employees, including 5 doctors with combined professional experience of over 80 years, are committed to compassionately providing pets with the most up-to-date wellness care, and diagnostic and treatment plans. We are one of the longest-standing members of the American Animal Hospital Association in Central Florida - your pet's assurance of high-quality veterinary care.
Our staff is sensitive to the needs of our clients and their pets. We fully understand that the needs of each client may be different, and that only through effective communication can reasonable options be presented.
We look forward to meeting you and your pet!
Dr. Amelie Thibaudeau grew up on the south shore of Montreal, Canada. As far as she can remember, she always wanted to be a veterinarian. Dr. Thibaudeau earned her veterinary medicine doctorate degree at the University of Montreal in 1998. She then practiced for 4 years in Canada before moving to New Jersey in 2001. From 1998 to 2005, she worked as an emergency and critical care veterinarian in referral/specialty practices.
In 2005, her dream of having her own practice became true. She met Dr. Errol Cady, the founder of Marne Veterinary Clinic who was soon retiring. Together with her husband, they made the practice their own. (In 2014 they converted Marne Veterinary Clinic into My Pet's Veterinary Center.)
She feels that the human-animal bond is one of the most sacred; and has pledged to help it grow. Amelie believes in preventive, progressive medicine and client education. She enjoys keeping up with new and advanced technologies to offer the best and the most options to her patients.
She has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry and ultrasound.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Thibaudeau enjoys outdoor activities with her three young children, raising chickens and going to yoga!
Dr. Scott Kandell grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ. He attended The American University in Washington DC and graduated in 1997 with a B.S. degree in Biology. He then graduated from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and has been practicing in NJ ever since.
Although he enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, three of his professional interests include dermatology, ophthalmology, and soft-tissue surgery. Currently, Dr. Kandell treats dogs and cats, but he enjoys reptiles, birds and wildlife as well.
Dr. Kandell is a firm believer in client education. In addition to explaining medical information to clients, he likes to create detailed 'Photo Cases' of interesting surgeries and procedures. These 'cases' are posted periodically on our Facebook page.
Some of Dr. Kandell's interests outside of work include health & fitness, working out, and playing table tennis. He lives in Mount Laurel, NJ with his two Ragdoll cats.
Dr. Lisa Trachtenberg was raised on a small hobby farm near Allentown, PA with her parents and twin sister. She now lives in Lumberton, NJ with her husband, 3 dogs, 2 kids, 2 snakes, 2 fish, and 1 cat. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Syracuse University in New York and then went on to receive her post-graduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Trachtenberg has also volunteered her veterinary services at spay/neuter clinics and at numerous other shelters in the area.
Her professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, and pursuing training in abdominal ultrasound. She also enjoys speaking Spanish and welcomes clients who may need that service when caring for their pet. Dr. Trachtenberg feels it is important for her to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine and enjoys going to continuing education conferences and educational meetings so that she can continue to provide the best care for her patients and clients. She also feels strongly about maintaining excellent client communication and education because in order to provide the best care for her patients, her clients need to clearly understand their pet's health condition.
Personal hobbies of hers include volleyball, traveling, strength training, donating her time for community service activities in the area, and playing with her children and pets.
Please welcome Victoria Eiss, VMD, the newest member of My Pet's Veterinary Center team. As a child she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and started working in veterinary hospitals at age 16. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the George Washington University in Washington, DC and then went on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation she worked in nearby Marlton NJ for the past few years and is very excited to be able to provide advanced patient care through use of M.P.V.C.'s surgical and therapy lasers. Her veterinary interests include dentistry, surgery, dermatology and internal medicine. She lives in Philadelphia, and though she currently doesn't have a pet at home, she considers all of her patients to be part of her extended pet family. Outside of work, Dr. Eiss enjoys playing tennis, photography, traveling and is a self-proclaimed "foodie"!read more
