Hearthstone Animal Clinic is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. The clinic was founded by Dr. Sterling Hall in 1982. He created and grew the practice into what we are today. In August of 2007 Dr. Hall decided it was time to retire and pursue his lifelong dream of writing a novel, fishing and generally just spending time with his family. He sold the practice to Dr. Steve Pelton. So far, we have been absolutely delighted to have the young, fresh and modern ideas Dr. Pelton brings to the practice! We look forward to many years working with him in our practice and community!

We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas. (We have minimal space, so try to book in advance.)

At Hearthstone Animal Clinic we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy. Remember, our goal is to treat you and your pet like they were part of our family!

If you are looking for that personal veterinary touch that many large clinics are lacking these days then we welcome you to check us out!

"We treat you and your pet like part of our family!"

Dr. Pelton received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University in 2000. He graduated from Texas A&M undergraduate school in 1996 with a major in biomedical science. After graduating from Texas A&M he started practicing in a VERY busy multi doctor practice in Spring Branch. Within 3 years of working at this clinic they made him the Medical Director. The Medical Director is responsible for setting and overseeing the standard of care that each and every pet receives at the clinic. Working at this practice helped Dr. Pelton establish himself as a confident, compassionate, and unique veterinarian. Dr. Steve Pelton 2008

Dr. Pelton started his dream of becoming a Veterinarian at the young age of 8 years old. It was a cold winter night, and his dog at the time, Irish, had found a very sick old dog curled up in a ball in the freezing snow. His father and he managed to carry the dog up to the house, find the owner and he received the care that he needed and ultimately lived for many more years. It was during this night that he decided that was what he wanted to do when he grew up. After many years of hard work and dedication that goal was accomplished. His last and most ambitious goal was to someday own his own practice. That dream became a reality on August 1st, 2007 when he took over Hearthstone Animal Clinic. Dr. Sterling Hall was a passionate, and wonderful veterinarian and filling his shoes is going to take time and effort, but Dr. Pelton has always enjoyed challenges.

He loves all aspects of veterinary medicine and creates a special bond with his patients. He has four dogs of his own Ava, Zeta, Ebony, and Holly and a very snobby Rag Doll cat named Osiris. Recently Dr. Pelton had to put his own 13 year old lab-greyhound mix, Callie to sleep. She was truly his pride and joy and she would be extremely proud of where he is at today. Having gone through the process with his own pet only makes him understand and sympathize with clients facing the same decision even more.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wonderful girlfriend Amanda, working out at LA fitness, messing around with computers, and playing with his dogs. Dr. Pelton also enjoys watching his weekly shows which include Smallville, Two and a Half Men, LOST!, etc. It doesn't take much to entertain him. 300 was by far his favorite movie to date. Dark Knight comes in second....

As far as veterinary medicine goes Dr. Pelton has grown a very strong interest in challenging medical cases, dermatolgy, dentistry, and even surgery. If your pet needs special care, or if you are looking for a veterinarian that creates a unique bond with his patients and their owners then he is the person to see.

Also, for those of you that have recently visited the clinic you should have noticed the beautiful flower pots out on the front porch! Mary did these and they turned out absolutely gorgeous! I think we will definitely keep her around!

Mary has Many cats, and a sweet black lab named "Flower" that was rescued here at the clinic..
