Best Friends' Veterinary Hospital, Gaithersburg, MD was started in memory of the best friend Dr. Hollifield ever had. She believes that regardless of species, there is a connection we all have with some animals that makes them part of our chosen family. They give us never ending love and we want to do the best we can for them in return. That belief is how she runs her hospital. She treats your pet like her very own. Every procedure, preventive, or service needed is available for every species. No unnecessary procedures or medications will be prescribed, only just what will directly benefit their health so they can live a long full life with you. There is a long list of credentials and services for you to read, but Dr. Hollifield would like to meet you in person, so call and stop by sometime. Your direct impression is the best way to decide if we are worthy of your trust to take care of your Best Friend's health and well being.

Hi, I’m Victoria, the owner and senior veterinarian at Best Friends’ Veterinary Hospital. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I graduated from U.M.U.C. with honors in 1984 and from Tuskegee University in 1988 as a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. I did an extern program at Zoo Atlanta between my 2nd and 3rd year of vet school. I worked at N.I.H. from 1987 to 1997, starting as a rodent and rabbit colony veterinarian at the Veterinary Resources Branch of the National Center for Research Resources and eventually becoming the Animal Program Director at the National Center for Human Genome Research.
While a commissioned officer at N.I.H., I worked part-time in several private practices. Since 1997, I have been a full-time practitioner at Best Friends’ Veterinary Hospital. My husband, Bill Ponton, and I have a wonderful son, Grant. I am an avid lover of all animal life and work with animal rescue operations for Montgomery County as well as with wildlife at Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary.
