We provide pet owners with more options, better resources, and educational involvement to develop a lifetime health care plan for their special companion. We accomplish this by having a compassionate, knowledgeable and professional staff that utilizes the latest technological advances and implements the foremost medical practices.

Belton Animal Clinic and Exotic Care Center has a long history of quality medicine and surgery. Established at its old location on Main Street in the late 1950s, it is currently owned by Dr. Teresa Bradley Bays. In October of 2005 we relocated 2 miles north into a new and expanded facility at 1308 N. Scott Ave, Belton, MO on a two acre tree-lined property.

Teresa Bradley Bays, DVM
Teresa Bradley Bays, DVM

Dr. Bradley Bays has been a veterinarian at Belton Animal Clinic & Exotic Care Center since 1993 and has been an owner in the practice since 1997. In addition to caring for the dogs and cats of Belton, she is an internationally-acclaimed author and lecturer on exotic pet species and recently earned Board Certification as a specialist in Exotic Companion Mammals, a designation held by less than 20 veterinarians worldwide. Her interests in veterinary medicine are varied, but she loves surgery and takes great pride in performing difficult and life-changing surgeries on dogs, cats, and exotic animals. As a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, she has helped many dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds and a few lizards to live a better and more comfortable life. Additionally, she is also studying Chinese Herbal Therapy in order to provide additional pain management and supportive care to the clinic's patients.

Dr. Bradley Bays is the author of many articles, several book chapters and co-editor and co-author of Exotic Pet Behavior: Birds, Reptiles, and Small Mammals. She is past president of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians and of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practitioners. She is currently a member of the following organizations:

An avid supporter of children and animals, Dr. Bradley Bays is co-leader of the KC-C.A.N. (Caring for All Network), a group that works to disseminate information about the link between animal abuse and domestic violence. Away from the clinic, she loves camping, reading, writing and spending time with her family as well as their two pets, Bonnie and Flash, both shelter rescues.

Krystal Miller, DVM
Krystal Miller, DVM

Dr. Krystal Miller was born and raised in Bellevue, NE. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2008. She went on to attend Kansas State University receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May of 2013. After graduating, she moved to Sioux City, IA and began practicing at a small animal clinic. She married her husband, Tanner, this past May and they moved to Louisburg, KS. Together they share their home with Maya, their 8-year-old Lab mix.

Dr. Miller loves investigating challenging cases and developing the veterinarian, client, patient relationship. In her spare time she enjoys baking, watching movies, taking walks and spending time with her nephews.

Matt Scheele, DVM

Dr. Matt Scheele earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Missouri Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. As an undergraduate studying Animal Science, Dr. Scheele gained valuable experience working at the University of Missouri Veterinary Hospital and the World Bird Sanctuary in Missouri. He also completed an internship with the Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre in British Columbia where he assisted a veterinarian with the critical care and rehabilitation of marine, avian, and terrestrial wildlife. While earning his DVM, Dr. Scheele was a Veterinary Assistant at Noah's Ark Animal Hospital & Bird Clinic for three years. Pursuing his interest in exotic and avian medicine, Dr. Scheele completed preceptorships with Bird Medicine & Surgery and the Kansas City Zoo. His extensive training with species of all kinds highlights his passion for all animals and high-quality veterinary medicine. Along with exotic care, Dr. Scheele enjoys radiography and ultrasound technology. In his spare time, he finds pleasure reading, watching movies, swimming, and traveling. He shares a home with his wife and their two canine companions, Hermes and Denali.

Madeline Anderson, DVM

Dr. Madeline Anderson earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2017. She also attended K.S.U. for her Bachelor degree in Animal Science, and was admitted into the Early Admissions Program for Pre-Veterinary Scholars in 2010, allowing her to go to veterinary school after only three years of undergraduate study.

Her professional interests include exotic animal medicine and diagnostic imaging. Dr. Anderson is especially passionate about treating reptiles and amphibians, and enjoys educating first-time exotic pet owners on how to optimally care for their new pet. Dr. Anderson is currently working towards expanding her skills by becoming board certified in Reptile and Amphibian Practice, as well as Exotic Companion Mammal Practice. She is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians, and American Veterinary Medical Association.

In her free time, Dr. Anderson likes to play board games and try new restaurants with family and friends. At home, Dr. Anderson has a standard ball python named Hobart, or Hobo for short. He is her first pet and now a happy and healthy 7-year-old. She credits Hobo as being the start of her love for exotic animals and collection of reptiles. She also has crested Geckos, Starbuck and Ianto.
