Dr. Kate Hilsenteger received her bachelor's degree in History from Rice University in May 2002, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in May 2007. Despite being born and raised in Austin Texas, she decided to explore the Pacific Northwest and moved to Portland following graduation to complete an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Willamette Valley Equine in Aurora, OR. Kate joined Banfield in December 2008 and currently practices in West Linn.
In her free time she enjoys beer tasting, hiking, running, and most sports that require protective headgear including horseback riding, snowboarding, and rugby.
Dr. Byers received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Byers received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island and completed an internship in small animal medicine at the Western Veterinary College in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
After her internship, Dr. Byers practiced in the Seattle area for nine years prior to moving to the beautiful Portland area. She practiced at a Portland small animal practice for 5 years prior to joining the Banfield team in 2012. She had the pleasure and unique opportunity to help open the West Linn, Banfield location.
Dr. Byers enjoys internal medicine, dermatology and preventive care medicine. It is a joy for her to develop a strong bond with her pets and clients.
Dr. Byers and her husband, Neal, have two children Grace and Simon. They have a precious and much loved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Chloe. In her spare time Dr. Byers volunteers at her Church and children's school and loves to dance.
