Dr. Sanders is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She spent two and a half years after graduation in rural practice before joining us at Banfield in 2014. She lives in Murfreesboro with her husband, 4 horses, 2 cats, and 2 Labrador retrievers.
Dr Joshua Shepard grew up in Murfreesboro and attended Middle Tennessee State University for undergraduate studies. After moving to Knoxville to attend Veterinary School at UT-Knoxville in 2001, he lived and worked in Chattanooga for 8 years. Dr Shepard joined Banfield in December of 2011 and returned to the Murfreesboro area with his wife Valerie and 2 children in 2013. He has served as our Chief of Staff since 2014. Dr Shepard has 2 15-year old rescue dogs, Maxwell and Megan, one cat, Jerry, and 2 snakes.
Dr. Amy Smith was born and raised in Huntsville, AL. She attended Lipscomb University in Nashville for her undergraduate career where she studied biology. She graduated from Lipscomb with a Bachelor of Science degree in May 2012. Dr. Smith then continued her education at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn in May 2016. Dr. Smith and her husband, Ryan, have two dogs, Bentley and Art, and a cat, Ginny. They partner with an organization that trains dogs to be guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs for veterans. Dr. Smith began working at Banfield in Murfreesboro in July 2016 and has really enjoyed working with her amazing staff and fellow vets.
