Welcome to Animal Health Services! Our Atwater Animal Hospital Facility

Animal Health Services is pleased to have to the opportunity to know you and your pets. We know our clients and patients are the heart of our practice and the reason we are here. We pledge that we will always do our very best to serve you and provide your animals and companions with the care they deserve.

In 1998, our Animal Hospital was built from the ground up to suit the needs of a veterinary facility. It was laid out for the convenience of our clients and for the care of our animals.

We have an ample and comfortable reception and waiting area in the front, which also houses our retail area for easy pick-up of pet products and supplies.

For the medical needs of the pets we have:

• Two large exam rooms
• A multi-purpose treatment room, this contains our lab, the dental treatment area, an additional exam table and kennel facilities for hospitalized pets.
• An operating room with a heated surgery table and anesthesia equipment.
• An x-ray room with the table-top x-ray unit and development equipment.

When animals are sick it is vital to take measures to prevent the potential spread of germs or exposure to infectious materials and diseases. This can be very difficult in poorly planned or overly crowded spaces. We took great care in the design of our facility to ensure that your pet would be protected against exposure to contagious diseases or unhealthy elements.

Aside from maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation, we provide multiple cages and isolation areas to keep ill pets, or pets with unknown health histories, well separated from other pets. We even have facilities for hospitalizing smaller farm animals, such as sheep and calves.

A bathing area for your pet's cleanliness and skin care.

We also do boarding for dogs, cats and small pocket pets.

Goodwill Projects in the Atwater Area

We are active in local events, such as our Atwater Festival Parade and the County Fair–where we provide veterinary services and also assist in the judging of 4-H projects.

Dr. Olson likes to speak about the Veterinary profession and hopefully inspire young people to follow education and a career in this field. This activity includes helping out at the local high school by speaking to the Occupational Health class about animal care and veterinary medicine.

The 4-H program is a great program to support and some of the ways our clinic helps out is by mentoring the youths in their animal projects and by supporting the 4-H Blue Ribbon auctions.

Dr. Kim Olson, Veterinarian
Dr. Kim Olson, Veterinarian

Dr. Kim Olson, just Doctor Kim to most, grew up surrounded by animals on a working dairy farm here in Minnesota. Something must have clicked as she not only decided to pursue a career as a Vet but still lives on a working dairy farm! She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 1993 and prior to opening Animal Health Services here in Atwater she spent time practicing in Hutchinson. When not taking care of your pets and farm animals, you will find her at work on her farm, out gardening, helping out with local 4-H projects and showing cattle.
