We at Staring Plaza Veterinary Center have put those principles at the forefront of our practice since we opened our famous "Dog" and "Cat " doors in 1987. Our team is dedicated to the concept of continuing education in order to provide your pet with state-of-the-art medicine as well as the highest quality of care. We offer Ultrasound, Laser surgery, Endoscopy, Therapeutic Laser treatment, and a full in-house lab. And since we all own pets, we understand your concerns and take special care to treat your loved ones as if they were our own.

Normal Business Hours: Mon-Fri 7:00am-6:00pm, Sat 7:00am-1:00pm

Emergency & Critical Care Hours: 24/7 including every weekend and holiday. Emergency veterinarian and staff onsite at all times.

Sherwood South Animal Hospital, Emergency & Critical Care Center opened for business in 1975 when Dr. O.C. “Bob” Granzin relocated his practice from downtown Baton Rouge to South Sherwood Forest Blvd. In 1979, Dr. Alfred Stevens joined the practice as a recent graduate from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. What began as a 3,400 sq. foot facility with three employees has since been rebuilt and redesigned to the current state-of-the-art, 12,000 sq. foot facility with over 50 employees.

This modern facility has required in-depth planning and foresight to meet its goals of offering the current array of services provided to the Greater Baton Rouge community. We utilize the most recent advances in diagnostic equipment, procedures, surgery and medical skills available in order to keep our patients healthy. From a fully equipped dental operatory and intensive care unit, to luxury boarding suites, Sherwood South Animal Hospital is dedicated to the highest level of patient care.

In 2003, Dr. Stevens was joined in practice by Doctors Stephen and Lacie Lee who were previously practicing in Atlanta, Georgia, and were excited to return to their home state to continue their careers at Sherwood South Animal Hospital.

In February of 2008, Dr. Nicole LaNasa joined the team and in January of 2011, Dr. Randy Thayer said goodbye to retirement and restarted his 36-year veterinary career again with the Sherwood South Family. Dr. Emelie McLellan joined the practice in May of 2011.

With six highly trained veterinarians and a wonderful staff of dedicated employees, the goal of Sherwood South Animal Hospital is to provide the very best in patient care and to make sure patients, as well as their owners, are treated like family. The love for our work and the great clientele we serve are the main motivations that keep Sherwood South Animal Hospital thriving today.
